LOUISVILLE, Kentucky — McConnell Senate Committee press secretary Kate Cooksey today released the following statement on Amy McGrath exploiting Ohio Governor Mike DeWine in her latest attack ad:
“In the same 60 seconds, Amy McGrath claims the coronavirus pandemic response is not about politics while she exploits the image of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine for her own political gain. Governors across the nation, as well as Leader McConnell, are focused on navigating their states through this unprecedented pandemic regardless of approval ratings. Extreme liberal McGrath makes clear that she is only interested in shamelessly cozying up to popular leaders like Governor DeWine to score cheap political points.”

BACKGROUND:
Amy McGrath has experience with people calling to have their images removed from her false attack ads. In September 2019, Amy McGrath received a cease and desist letter from two Kentucky coal miners whose images were unknowingly used in an attack ad against Senator Mitch McConnell. The miners were told they were being filmed for a documentary for the Black Lung Association, not for a political advertisement. (Lexington Herald-Leader, 9/5/19)
